A third-generation tile works that had never had a logo. We drew one from the stamp on the back of their 1931 tiles.
Grade 3. 15 seconds. Held the shadow 3.
Ortega & Filhos has made tiles in Aveiro since 1931 and spent ninety years signing them on the side nobody sees. Inês Ferraz, the founder’s granddaughter, came to us wanting a rebrand in time for a trade fair.
We told her to skip the fair
The stamp in the archive was better than anything we could have invented, but the catalogue behind it was a mess. We asked them to cancel the launch and spend four months photographing every pattern they had ever fired. There were 412.
The archive went online that autumn. Two hotel groups found it before the sales team had called them.
